There is a whole host of ways that music can make the difference in a film so much so that it becomes a part of your collection. Let’s take a look at some of the best music inspired movies that you’ll love to binge watch over this weekend: 

  • The Blues Brothers

    This is a musical comedy directed by John Landis. Jake Blues puts together his old band to save the Catholic home where he and brother Elwood were raised. 

  • Walk the Line

    Walk the line is based on the career and early life of country music legend Johnny Cash.      

  • Let’s Get Lost

    This Oscar nominated documentary is about Chet Baker’s career.  

  • A Star is Born

    An American musical romantic drama film produced, directed and starring Bradley Cooper, this one is about a musician helping a young singer (Lady Gaga as the effervescent Ally) find fame as age and alcoholism send his own career into a downward spiral.  

  • 8 Mile

    Starring Eminem, 8 Mile is an American Drama following white rapper B-Rabbit’s (Eminem) attempts to establish himself in a genre dominated by African-Americans.            

  • La La Land

    A big winner at the Oscars, this film about jazz beautifully depicts the struggles of a pianist (Sebastian Wilder played by Ryan Gosling) and the commercialization of jazz over the last few decades.   

  • Love & Mercy

    This one is about Brian Wilson and his struggles with emerging psychosis.

  • Almost Famous

    Almost Famous is about a teenage journalist who writes for the Rolling Stone magazine. 

  • This is Spinal Tap

    This one is a mocumentary starring Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer directed and co-written by Rob Reiner.
