Lipstick, one of the elementary makeup items we all own is an everlasting female favourite. The unprecedented power of a tinted pout has been continually validated over the years and can be seen documented in gazillion pictures of beautiful women who love to flaunt bold lips. Where scarlet lips signal “I’m in charge” like a red flag, soft pink nude lips portray a doll-like, put together look.
Trust us when we say there is a red, pink and nude for each one of you lovely ladies out there. Lets us decode yours –
If you’re fair skinned, try and lean towards the orange end of the spectrum. It will bring out your complexion and instantly infuse life into your face without washing you out. Blue based lipsticks will also create a striking contrast, if you’re daring enough. Olive skinned beauties can rock the lighter shades, preferably peachy tones, while dark skinned women look gorgeous with deep rich burgundies and plums.
Everybody belongs to one of three of these undertones, namely; pink, yellow and neutral. Certain lipsticks go better with certain undertones. To find your undertone, take a look at your veins. If they’re blue, you have a pink undertone. If they’re green, you have a yellow undertone. If you cannot clearly tell, then you’re the lucky neutral. Blue based lip colours work magically well for pink toned people, while orangey hues will look great on yellow tones. Neutral tones can rock any shade of lip tint!
Lipsticks largely come in 3 finishes; matte, satin and glossy. If you suffer from extremely chapped lips, we suggest staying away from the mattes and heading towards glossier, more comfortable lip options. If you have smooth, plump lips, try swiping a bold, pigmented shade of a true matte lipstick. It will draw attention to your luscious pout like no other!
Lastly, all women must own at least 4 lipsticks. A banging red for those look-at-me-now days, a flirty pink for a date or a girl’s day out, a soft nude to go with smoky eyes and no makeup days and a bold dark shade to create a trendy fashion forward statement. All these colours come in a variety of shades and undertones. It is a matter of trial and error to find ones that work best for you.
